Velosi Certifies MeFab - 07 Dec 2009
MeFab gets Dubai Industrial City certification.
Dubai Industrial City, a member of Tecom Investments, said its governance centre - Maqayees (Dubai Centre for Industrial Standards) - has awarded its first ISO 9001:2008 certification to MeFab Engineering.
A manufacturer of pressure vessels and heavy structural steel fabrication products for the oil and gas industry, MeFab Engineering, operates at the base metal zone of Dubai Industrial City, the 560 million sq ft one-stop industrial and commercial destination.
The certification was awarded following an inspection carried out by Maqayees in association with Velosi Quality Management International (VQMI) which serves as an independent verification body, using the Dubai Quality Mark (DQM) assessment protocol, a propriety risk-based model developed by Maqayees for integrated quality, health, safety and environmental management systems.
Rashed Al Ansari, vice president of Dubai Industrial City, handed over the ISO 9001:2008 certificate to Jose Samuel, managing director of Mefab Engineering, in the presence of G. Prakash, managing director of VQMI.
Manufacturing companies in Dubai Industrial City are encouraged to adopt DQM’s standards and achieve the certification from Maqayees within a given period of commencing operations.
Maqayees’ extensive experience in risk based quality, occupational health, safety and environmental management system assessment has witnessed demand from various organizations that has prompted Dubai Industrial City to extend the service to organizations outside industrial township.
Al Ansari said: - We are proud to present the certification for the first time, based on the risk-based integrated approach in QHSE management developed by Maqayees, The centre aims to position Dubai Quality Mark as the standard that accelerates an organization’s performance excellence, in addition to being a governance benchmark for industrial parks in the region.

It not only illustrates the company’s commitment to adopting the management system that has led to the implementation of Dubai Quality Mark, but also underscores its ambition to integrate world-class manufacturing excellence standards, he added.- |
