As no mechanical scanners are needed, this technique permits the ultrasonic imaging of complex geometries inherent in tees, valves and bends. Colour composite images can be generated by joining individual scan areas to show the overall condition of the plant, and coverage is guaranteed as noninspected areas are highlighted.

The corrosion mapping is accompanied with different sectional viewing software such as C-scan, D-scan and S-scan and reports can be generated automatically.
