This UT based technique relies on detection of diffracted waves of defect, rather than reflected waves, toinspect girth welds.

It operates in a pitch & catch configuration, i.e. with a transmitting probe and a receiving probe. It provides real time data and is well suited for inspection of girth welds on vessels.

TOFD is fast becoming the preferred inspection method for the detection of preferential Weld Root Erosion and Corrosion. The speed and accuracy is unmatched by any other technique.

Velosi are capable of performing TOFD on all types of materials, including duplex stainless steel.
